内容简介

　　《简明中国文明史（英文版）》从文化与文明的角度，分析了世界各国尤其是中国的发展历程。作者指出，“民族国”的发展道路并不可取，中国的发展道路也并非这种模式。书中通过对历史事件的引证和对国际趋势的分析，澄清了“中国威胁论”“中国中心论”“中国傲慢论”等西方对中国的误读，批评了“种族主义倾向”和“文明中心倾向”对人类发展的负面影响，并认为，中国的发展对全球的繁荣起到了至关重要的作用，建立休戚相关的命运共同体会使人类文明再攀高峰。

作者简介

　　潭中，1929年生，历史学硕士、博士，在印度大学教书40年，曾任德里大学副教授兼中日系主任（1971—1978），尼赫鲁大学教授兼亚非语言系主任（1980年代）及东亚语言系主任（1990年代）直至1994年退休。复任新德里英迪拉甘地国立艺术中心教授顾问兼东亚部主任（1990—1999）。为德里中国研究所创始主席（1990—2003）。现定居美国芝加哥。2010年获得印度政府颁发的二等莲花奖，是继季羡林以后获得此奖的第二个中国学者。2013年获得泰戈尔创办的印度国际大学荣誉学位，是继周恩来、谭云山、巫白慧以后获得此荣誉的第四个中国学者。2013年受聘为云南社会科学院荣誉院士。
