俗话说文无定法，写书评当然也无一定的格式，可以因人而异，因书而异。比如偏于谈感受的书评就可以直接从述感开头：“何建明的长篇报告文学《中国高考报告》是一部具有强烈震撼力的作品。不读则罢，越读越使人感到，高考的分量实在太重太重，它重得使许多中国人的腰背都压弯，连中华民族的脊梁也被压得出现了严重的畸型。高考啊！何时才能走出怪圈？”（《走出高考的怪圈》）想要带点文学色彩又要给读者一点悬念的也可以抒情开头：“若你走进普鲁斯特的世界，我想你不会不惊叹于那美妙的符号所产生的神奇魅力，不会不沉醉于玛德莱娜小点心的绵长回味，不会不震悸于人类内心的隐秘世界的强烈曝光。作为《追忆似水年华》的译者之一，我也不可能不更真切地感受到普鲁斯特开启的感觉世界对我的灵魂与感官的诱惑、冲击、洗涤、丰富、与净化。“（《全新而永恒的感觉世界》）当然书评的结尾也不一定都要推荐式的。可以表达某种愿望，如“愿借苇岸的亲切诚实的语言，生动盎然的诗意和宁静柔韧的美感铺就的小径，引领我们走向诗意栖居之地。”
