In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child--not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power--the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.
Threatened, Zeus banishes her to a deserted island, where she hones her occult craft, tames wild beasts and crosses paths with many of the most famous figures in all of mythology, including the Minotaur, Daedalus and his doomed son Icarus, the murderous Medea, and, of course, wily Odysseus.
But there is danger, too, for a woman who stands alone, and Circe unwittingly draws the wrath of both men and gods, ultimately finding herself pitted against one of the most terrifying and vengeful of the Olympians. To protect what she loves most, Circe must summon all her strength and choose, once and for all, whether she belongs with the gods she is born from, or the mortals she has come to love.

##最後我以為Circe是要把對方變成神，沒想到一番暢想之後是要把自己變成人。就像人類會夢想永恒光榮，神會期待短暫熾烈。主題之一是愛，但愛是什麼呀？【好久不讀小說，讀瞭一本還是神話題材，覺得還不錯。】
評分##好好看！幾年前在上coursera的《奧德賽》的時候，就特彆喜歡Calypso和Circe。“她注定會愛上每一個經過的男人，但他們都不得不離開。” 這本書又把希臘神話知識給我鞏固瞭一遍，很棒很棒。

評分##4.5. 超越我的期待值，盡管我知道這是本廣受歡迎的好書，但對於我這個並不常看fantasy類彆讀者，且因為小時候讀希臘神話故事總有something is lost的感受的人來說，這是本讓我開始對retelling這一個小類彆的書籍重建信心和興趣的開始。Circe這本書最突齣的是作者掌握瞭一種很自然的平衡狀態，在希臘神話故事裏齣名人物和場景作為整體環境中，娓娓道來主人公的故事，展現的是她的經曆和成長。在作者筆下，感覺那些希臘神話中曾作為陪襯和被遺忘的女神是如此栩栩如生，Circe正是如此。她這個角色是如此動態，如此“人”性：她對自己身份的認知和自我懷疑，叛逆，脆弱與頑強，錯誤與懲罰。我們需要更多的這樣從女性視覺看曆史，看神話，看過去的retelling.
評分##冰冷，殘酷而瑰麗，無論是凡人還是神靈，女性總麵臨相似的恐懼與睏境。無盡的大理石柱廊和其上跳躍的火焰，神擁有莊嚴的力量和漫長得望不見盡頭的壽命，但生命卻從指尖如砂礫般流逝，無從獲得美麗而不朽的愛。
評分##被媒體標簽為女權小說...好吧...有一個有自己思想有能力的女主角就是女權瞭麼....到是不知道在哪看到的#MeToo小說比較符閤內容。故事挺好的，講述的方式也很喜歡。但是被評價為page turning... Hmmm...這個故事還沒達到讓我拿起來放不下的地步，就是正常的速度看完吧..至於說什麼時間綫不太對啥的，Greek Mythology本來就有很多時間綫讓人細想起來很有問題的啊，比如Helen的年齡啊啥的...
評分##開頭還挺有趣，但之後就寫成瞭一個披著希臘神話皮的晉江女尊文，一度以為自己在刷ao3同人。所謂的女權主義女性覺醒都是皮毛，更像是後期營銷貼的標簽。不過這個類型還挺適閤HBO拍成劇的。
評分##Humbling women seems to me a chief pastime of poets. As if there can be no story unless we crawl and weep. They barely care if you are wicked. The only thing that makes them listen is power. 書名乾脆翻譯為《白蓮女神誤入凡塵之我要復仇》???????????? 你看女????錘不錘你就完瞭
評分##我竟然聽完瞭，真的就隻有最後1/4比較有趣，之前的所有角色都predictable到瞭一定程度。全世界都對不起女主，所以她被流放前做的那些和她同族一樣冷酷自私的事並不妨礙她穩站道德高地。Daedalus做錯瞭什麼被寫成和她同病相憐的怪物製造者......結尾也夠雙標，隻寫她和Telemachus結閤(先吃完不會變老的種族福利)，而不提Penelope和Telegonus這對。小說結尾Prometheus應該已經獲釋瞭吧，對女主那麼重要的角色好歹提一下啊(不瞭不瞭，免得女主又要談戀愛????)。這個瑪麗蘇故事就是上半年各傢書店推薦的女性小說，挺失望的。
