James published his first adult book, The Misadventures of Pete the Cat, a history of his artwork, in 2006. He illustrated his first self-published children’s book, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, in 2008, and the follow-up book, Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes, in 2011. 　　吉姆·凯，是帕特里克·奈斯的小说《恶魔呼唤》的插画绘制者，他的插画获得了2012年凯特·格林纳威奖。他曾在威斯敏斯特大学学习绘画，毕业后曾先后在泰特英术馆和英国皇家植物园工作。他在里奇蒙美术馆举办个展时，一位出版商看中了他的绘画，主动与他洽谈，自此开启了他的自由插画家生涯。
