Giovanna's pretty face has changed: it's turning into the face of an ugly, spiteful adolescent. But is she seeing things as they really are? Into which mirror must she look to find herself and save herself?
She is searching for a new face in two kindred cities that fear and detest one another: the Naples of the heights, which assumes a mask of refinement, and the Naples of the depths, which professes to be a place of excess and vulgarity. She moves between these two cities, disoriented by the fact that, whether high or low, the city seems to offer no answer and no escape.

##费兰特很爱描写那些成熟有学识、彬彬有礼、受人欢迎推崇的男生，也许出身不高，对于感情更是随意，好像精神契合和相貌只需占一样，便会想要占为己有。放在日常生活中，谁不会fall for这样的男人呢？Gianni的爸爸、Roberto还有之前的尼诺，一旦接触了拥有了，就会发现都只是个fking lie。临结尾Gianni回去找Roberto的那段心绪描写得太真实了。她知道如果自己想和Roberto睡，那么眼下就可以实现；但她拒绝了Roberto的邀请，她真正想要的是和他躺在一起，聊宗教、聊宇宙。最后她把第一次草草给了一个粗糙无知的少年，甚至没有亲吻。好像性和爱本来就无需有很多挂牵，并无一定的因果关系。
评分##和当初在航班上看天才女友剧集的感受相似，人与人之间有很深邃复杂的情感羁绊，一地鸡毛又五味杂陈。Giovanna 见到 Vittoria 之前和初次与她相见都扣人心弦，后来故事和人物关系的层层展开剥离让人有时疲惫至透不过气，戏剧又真实。很能明白 Roberta 之于她的意义。成长之痛还会延续。
评分##放逐，童年阴影，焦虑与不安，总要交织的爱与恨，容貌愈发接近父母的恐惧…还是那个Elena Ferrante，这本的格局小得多，也没什么时间跨度，虽然和四部曲比较不太合适，但确实相差很远。能再读到Elena Ferrante就是好的。
评分##那不勒斯的另一个故事，比四部曲更坦诚更赤裸。前2/5转折和衔接不够流畅，有一种我能理解主人公为什么这样做但somehow就是缺少动机的感觉。从第三部分开始精彩起来，主人公把自己和家庭和外表剥离，剥到血肉模糊，触目惊心。giovanna好勇敢，勇敢到最后可以果决地和解，生活如此，let’s fuck it
