The bride – The plus one – The best man – The wedding planner – The bridesmaid – The body
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine, or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.
But perfection is for plans, and people are all too human. As the champagne is popped and the festivities begin, resentments and petty jealousies begin to mingle with the reminiscences and well wishes. The groomsmen begin the drinking game from their school days. The bridesmaid not-so-accidentally ruins her dress. The bride’s oldest (male) friend gives an uncomfortably caring toast.
And then someone turns up dead. Who didn’t wish the happy couple well? And perhaps more important, why?

评分##失望的原因并不是因为能猜到whodunit, 也不仅仅是因为期待值太高而未达到（不少人拿它跟阿加莎的作品相比），主要还是因为将受害者和凶手同时隐藏到故事最后是很冒险的写法，这是一种比较漫长的build up, 因此当读者轻易猜到一切的时刻就会自然觉得anticlimactic……除此之外，各个人物登场虽然好像笔墨不少，但其实人物刻画的并不形象丰满（除了知道每个人都有过去的秘密就没什么其他的了），整个故事也没有什么可以凝练的现实意义（也许是我要求太高，但最近几年很多好的悬疑作品都有很不错的take home messages）...反正是失望的。唯一很成功的地方就是有声版的演员演绎得都很棒。

评分##It’s poisonous. Vulgarly written. Without F*bombs the author couldn’t carry out functional conversations. The rowdy structure did not help with the tension she tried to force upon our readers. The whole thing just gave me headache reading it. What a waste to use Ireland as her book setting.

评分节奏太缓慢了，大部分篇幅就是婚礼肥皂剧，推动剧情发展那是一点一点挤牙膏，挤一厘米缩回去半厘米那种。感到刺激的片段像是幕间一闪而过。最后结尾节奏又飞快，硬是给反转了好几次，可是因为角色们隐藏的秘密都是差不多的味道，感受不到魅力。
