It begins with absence and desire. It begins with blood and fear. It begins with a discovery of witches. Sensing the significance of Diana's discovery, the creatures gather in Oxford, among them the enigmatic Matthew Clairmont, a vampire genticist. Diana is inexplicably drawn to Matthew and, in a shadowy world of half-truths and old enmities, ties herself to him without fully understanding the ancient line they are crossing. As they begin to unlock the secrets of the manuscript and their feelings for each other deepen, so the fragile balance of peace unravels...

##又是一本情节拖拖拉拉的书~电视剧改编得比较大，但还是比较尊重原著（选角除外）~看得实在太累了~

评分##这本书很容易读懂，不过可以把这本书当成是作者对马修古迪的yy吧。不过作为一名历史学家和作家，这本书作者成功的把自己的yy变成了一本书和三部电视剧。这简直是追星女孩的最高境界。不过作者在堆彻马修吸血鬼的品酒，穿着和建筑风格的高逼格上真的写了不少功夫，以致于我觉得马修带Diana在万灵学院品酒这一段真的有点装逼。按我的习惯这段应该两个人赤裸坦诚相待咯，还一直品酒品到什么时候了

评分节奏太拖拉，跳着看的，五章能凑一集剧就不错了……妥妥的古早玛丽苏，牛津部分还凑合(吸血鬼还做瑜伽笑死)，去法国金屋藏娇大面积崩坏简直没眼看，仅一些背景和书袋还算有趣。无法脑补马修古德演法国人。IB蜀黍的博士论文写的也是女巫，不由好奇他老人家会怎么写女巫小说……希望剧组能强力改编扭转局面吧

评分##研究supernatural的历史学家写的女巫小说。爱情线像Twilight, 女主父母双亡就像Harry Potter，中间历史与解迷像达芬奇密码，女巫与吸血鬼的DNA和生命进化结合在一起还是蛮有趣的，最后穿越伊丽莎白一世年代联想到Doctor Who，也许每个历史学家都有穿越的梦想。但是阅读过程当中觉得描述性的文字比较累赘，还加入了大量古代方言，拉丁文之类的，这些都影响阅读进度。
