作者简介

ANTOINE DE SAINT-EXUP?RY, the "Winged Poet," was born in Lyon, France, in 1900. He took his first flight at the age of eleven, and became a pilot at twenty-six. He was a pioneer of commercial aviation and flew in the Spanish Civil War and World War II. His writings include The Little Prince, Wind, Sand and Stars, Night Flight, Southern Mail, and Airman's Odyssey. In 1944, while serving with a French air squadron, he disappeared during a flight over the Mediterranean.

圣埃克苏佩里1900年生于法国里昂。他曾有志于报考海军学院，未能如愿，却有幸成为空军一员。1921-1923年在法国空军服役。1923年退役后，先后从事过各种不同的职业。1939年参加抗德战争，1940年流亡美国。1943年回到法国在北非的抗战基地。1944年参加第八次飞行任务中，年仅44岁的他驾机飞上湛蓝的天空，从此再也没有回来。他著名的作品是《小王子》，其阅读率在西方仅次于《圣经》。其他作品包括：《南线班机》（1930）、《夜航》（1931）、《城堡》（1940）和《战区飞行员》（1942）。

所谓常识，按照我们一般的理解，应该是指那些能够不证自明，可以不言而喻，直至众所周知，最终心领神会的日常观念。这里有一个稍微悖论的地方，因为从观念的本体论意义而言，它是一个学习与接受的过程，我们只能从日常的成长中习得观念，观念无法彰显自身。我们可以这样理解，任何观念都有一个从真理逐渐日常化的过程，真理普及越多，观念就变成了常识。按照古希腊哲学的说法，隐微的真理只由少数哲人才能掌握，只有常识——他们通常称之为“意见”——支撑起我们的日常生活。 之所以做了这样的区分，是因为在本书中，他称之为“常识”的观念，指的是那些观念需要普及，但是恰恰还没有达到一种普遍的认知状态。现代以来，随着学科化与专业化的各种区分，观念逐渐成为了各自专业领域沟通的接头暗号，对外人而言，这些观念是已经超越了常识的界限。而“国家的常识”意味着我们我们生活在一个人际关系的社会中，我们生活在某种统治之下，我们需要了解某些共同领域生活的规则，这是构建我们美好生活的基础。常识的解读告诉我们，你理解了一个词汇，并不意味着我们就懂了这个词汇的含义。常识帮助我们理解，引发我们探究的兴趣，提升我们的认识，融洽我们的沟通语境，构建我们想象的共同体，捕捉真理的影子。就如同罗斯金在点评俄罗斯为何最终走到了一条威权主义道路一样，他说我们必须学习资本主义：“市场经济可能是自然发生的，但它不能自然地理解。”我们需要通过学习市场经济的常识，才能认识那支看不见的手。这种理解是建立在常识上基础上的深入而专业的理解。 从常识中读懂国家，这就意味着你能从其他国家的发展中看到了自己国家的影子。尽管囿于民主制的主题，我们无法得知罗斯金是如何解读中国的，但是在这些国家的解读中，尤其是对俄罗斯的解析中，中国的影子跃然纸上。这倒不是说罗斯金在暗示这什么，只是说这些国家的历史或多或少都能给人一种借鉴。尤其是俄罗斯的发展，不仅仅是意识形态，还是威权政治体制，乃至现如今，陷入的各种困境都与中国的现状如出一辙。但是未来的发展如何，在这种“文化绝望的政治”中，在市民社会的缺席中，在意识形态幻觉的洪流中，是走向深渊，还是走向民主，我们不得而知。这也许就是在本书的结语部分中提到的一个学习常识很重要的教训：无论是我们的国家，还是作为市民的我们与其他国家的人们都没有太多的区别，当你比较政治的时候，一定要把自己的国家体系包括进来，“我们通过研究结果，学习什么是好的，什么是坏的”。
