##手术细节写得非常详细，什么钻开一个孔，骨头里面凹凸不平的地方锉平什么的，心理承受力不够恐怕还看不下去，但是好想翻开解剖图鉴。感谢现代医学，不然我也不可能活到现在，以及，anaesthetists这个单词真的好难读。

评分##一開始當作（又一本）神外故事會看，但中段開始基調逐漸改變，作者開心見誠地談論自己的失敗，剖析自己遇到無法救治的病人或者手術失敗的病例時的所思所想，還反覆吐槽NHS管理得如何官僚死板，讓普通人一窺醫生這一職業背後的壓力和煩惱。 印象比較深刻的章節，一是作者自述其公學牛津drop out gap完回校再轉行的游刃有餘白人中產人生（……），二是官僚制度無論在蘇聯解體後的烏克蘭還是在倫敦都死死把控住治病救人的醫院，三是作者反思自己年輕時因自大而手術失敗、使病人成爲植物人，印象最爲深刻的四則是作者照料臨終母親、以及散見於各章節的對死亡的思考。看完很强烈的一個感受是，in Cantonese，人命真係好化學……
评分##讲述疾病与死亡的书是那么迷人，让我重拾了当初看LGBT类作品的那种激情。可惜平权再看早已没有处理生死那样让人颤栗。让我印象最深的是作者记录母亲癌症弥留的那几天，搬回自己的家，躺在床上。他每早来看她，她便说：“活着呢”也说她很幸福。她的儿女陪在身边，好友在餐桌前聚，说着她的平生……直到最后一刻，她都未失智。作者，作为握了半生手术刀的医生，羡慕起这种的死亡。 我也羡慕。
