MARIE-LAURE LIVES WITH HER FATHER in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is twelve, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure's reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum's most valuable and dangerous jewel.
In a mining town in Germany, the orphan Werner grows up with his younger sister, enchanted by a crude radio they find. Werner becomes an expert at building and fixing these crucial new instruments, a talent that wins him a place at a brutal academy for Hitler Youth, then a special assignment to track the resistance. More and more aware of the human cost of his intelligence, Werner travels through the heart of the war and, finally, into Saint-Malo, where his story and Marie- Laure's converge.

emmmmm...it's okay, I guess, the words used were extremely beautiful, but the story is just ordinary, the writing of this book is undoubtedly skillful, but it didn't lead much resonance in my heart. Read this for studying, I think.
評分##/看的第二本英文原著/兩綫敘事pov寫法，結構精妙。說來慚愧，本來是衝著言情情節去看的，實際上法國盲女和德國男孩的相遇總共也不到一天。小說大篇幅還是寫各自命運如同河流一般，二戰使他們交匯，也很快使他們分開。單純、聰明的德國男孩因為戰爭成為無名的國傢機器。後天盲疾的法國女孩因為戰爭失去父親，滯留在海邊的法國小鎮。Werner和Marie看上去莫名其妙的愛戀是浪漫的，更是殘酷的。結尾已經做祖母的Marie俯視整個巴黎，她聽到那麼多的聲音，那些密密麻麻的交流電視廣播。而在她的十六歲，她隻有一颱藏在閣樓的收音機。還喜歡結尾jutta去法國找Marie那段情節，已經長大的德國女人在法國列車上，看到法國人，內心拼命想著“他們一定認齣我瞭，或許我聞上去就像個德國人。”不用一個詞兒說教，這還不夠反戰嗎？

評分##這是我讀的最長的一本書。好幾次在哭。結尾其實有點無趣瞭/周四下午跑完步，四點多排在學一五色水餃的隊伍裏。站在無障礙通道的斜坡上，陽光柔和又摻雜著樹影。

評分##語言很美，我覺得結尾不太滿意。不能說虎頭蛇尾，隻是平淡瞭些。也許這就是這些人物們跨越幾十年後最好的結局，但不甘心啊⋯
