As the hot summer evening unfolds, the veneer of happy family life and Southern gentility gradually slips away as unpleasant truths emerge and greed, lies, jealousy and suppressed sexuality threaten to reach boiling point. Made into a film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a masterly portrayal of family tensions and individuals trapped in prisons of their own making.

##Brick人设的连贯性明显还是原版的好，对比下来Broadway version的转折也过于突兀了点..就像田纳西自己说的I don’t believe that a conversation, however revelatory, ever effects so immediate a change in the heart or conduct of a person in Brick’s state of spiritual disrepair. (Big Daddy真是人间清醒

评分##还是更喜欢《欲望》，那部里面冲突的核心没有这里具象化，可能我更喜欢戏剧里那种个人或某一特殊群体的绝境吧。Brick有点让我想起Hemingway那些主人公，the additional charm of that cool air of detachment that people who have gicen up the struggle, 不过他是被动的。包括Maggie the cat，这部是关于一种焦灼，从现实来的胁迫感。

Liquor is one way out and death is the other." 两个版本的结局我都挺喜欢的，田纳西原版的结尾Brick的反问有一种很无奈的悲伤，可能观众更多的是同情Brick；百老汇版的结尾是Maggie走投无路的哀求，就像a cat on a hot tin roof，就像田纳西自己记录的导演Kazan提的建议"...the character of Margaret...should be, if possible, more clearly sympathetic to an audience."田纳西真的很会写家庭成员之间的紧张和矛盾关系，个人觉得比奥尼尔要好很多。
评分##就是这一本把，问Vojta借的，每天早上翻几页也翻了半个月。每个人都是热铁皮上的猫把。Big mama,Big daddy,magrite,brick,~~还有那种在烫脚铁皮上的关系。Brick和Magrite,Big mama和Big daddy这种关系都是悲剧把。爱情，亲情。

评分##写的最传神的并非美丽动人的猫女maggie也不是性向变幻莫测的英俊球星Brick，而是练达人生又对人生无可奈何的Big parents.
