Henny laid an egg and then lost it. As Henny searches the farm for her precious egg, children will love guessing what happened. A die-cut hole throughout the book invites interactivity and a fuzzy spot of plush adds a delightful tactile quality to this Touch-and-Feel Board Book. The 1967 beloved Richard Scarry classic gets a new trim size and new, lower price!
Generations of children all over the world have grown up spending hours poring over RICHARD SCARRY's oversized books filled with all the details of their lives. No other illustrator has shown such interest in the day-to-day words and concepts of childhood. Scarry was raised and educated in Boston. After five years of drawing maps and designing graphics for the U.S. Army, he moved to New York to pursue a career in commercial art. But after showing his portfolio to one of the original editors at Golden Books, he found a home for himself. In the extraordinary career that followed, Richard Scarry illustrated over one hundred books, including almost thirty Little Golden Books and ten Big Golden Books, many of which have never been out of print.

"From the start, this book invites reader involvement. The cut-out circle on the cover, revealing a tuft of yellow fluff, draws attention. The text on the first page instructs: "Put your finger in the hole on each page to see if you can find Henny's lost egg." The problem, revealed on the accompanying page, is that Henny has laid an egg but that it rolled through a hole into the room below. She chases after it as it rolls across a table, through a window, along a rain gutter, down a pig's back, across the barnyard, through a fence, into a hollow log, and so on. All's well that ends well, of course, with a delightful surprise for Henny at the end. Reading this book with more than one young child at a time poses a small problem: All will want their fingers in the book!"
