評分##Pinker論證科學帶來的種種好處：更長的壽命，更少貧窮，更豐富的物質享受，更和平（主要指國傢級戰爭更少），更多民主（主要更多國傢選擇民主政體），教育更普及（主要是文盲更少）。單子很長，世界確實有實實在在變化。可福柯的生命政治視閾下的現代人，也有類似的趨勢。pinker提到福柯，為什麼不認真論證，打倒福柯，證明“數世紀的科學知識發展以及其帶來的好處，背後是沒有站著個'權力'的”，呢？（這是疑問句，不是反問句）反而花瞭那麼多精力去評判宗教生活（這種評判標準當然是上麵科學帶來的那些好處啦），還花那麼大篇幅想論證尼采是自大狂和納粹分子。關鍵對手都避開，然後復述那些老掉牙的偏見，難怪書那麼長。
評分##真的是一本很神奇的書，神奇在於開始看的時候就知道主題是論證世界變得更好，不過就是堆積數據來論證罷瞭，結果看完之後像被洗腦一樣，堅信世界會越來越好，我們處於最好的時代，而且作者文筆真不錯，知識範圍廣，能感受到文字的力量。

評分##有些書難讀，但是讀下來還是能學到一些東西，所以還是值得。這本書文字流暢，但是看完沒覺得有什麼收獲，最多算雞湯，太長，所以是特大的一鍋雞湯！作者對現狀太樂觀，數據的選擇讓人生疑。以後蓋茨推薦的書要等一段時間再讀，水分太多。
