评分汉光武讨王郎时,河北皆叛,独巨鹿、信都坚守,议者谓可因二郡兵自送,还长安。惟邳彤不可,以为若行此策,岂徒空失河北,必更惊动三辅。公既西,则邯郸之兵,不肯背城主而千里送公(二),其离散逃亡可必也。光武感其言而止。东坡曰:「此东汉与亡之泱,邳彤亦可谓汉之元臣也。」彤在云台诸将中,不为人所标异,至此论出,识者始知其然。汉高祖没,吕后舆审食其谋曰:「诸将故舆帝为编户民,今乃事少主,非尽族是,天下不安。」以故不发丧。郦商兄食其曰:一诚如此,天下危矣。陈平、灌婴将十万守荥阳,樊哙、周勃将二十万定燕、代,此闻帝崩,诸将皆诛,必连兵还响以攻关中,亡可蹻足待也。」食其人言之,乃发丧。然则是时汉室之危,几于不保,郦商笑谈间,廓廓无事,其功岂不大哉。然无有表而出之者。迨吕后之亡,吕禄据北军,商子寄绐之出游,使周勃得入。则郦氏父子之于汉,谓之社稷臣可也。寄舆到揭同说吕禄解将印,及文帝论功,揭封侯赐金,而寄不绿,平、勃亦不为之一言,此又不可晓者。其后寄嗣父为侯,又以罪免,惜哉。
